Round 1. The season begins

Hi Everyone,,

April 7 is only 3 hours away and our Senior teams are ready to go.

Our message.. Lead us by example. Show us all how to be competitive yet respectful of our competitors. Show us how to be humble in our victories and gracious in our defeats. Show us that the bar is high and that teamwork is what matters most. Be the role models our Junior players look up to..

We wish all the players, coaches and managers the very best for tomorrow and hope that all the pressures of the past few weeks will be washed away once the whistle blows.

Our Competitive Junior nominations have been submitted and the depth is impressive.  Thanks to all those who have signed on this year. We hope your  season ahead is filled will new challenges and excitement.

For our new Non competitive teams,,, Welcome aboard the Macquarie United express. Before you know it your kids will be standing on the field in their shiny new socks and boots looking at some other kids standing there in their shiny new socks and boots. Someones gonna chuck a ball in there somewhere and say PLAY.. and then OMG,, look out. Its a great experience and one you should never miss.

So onwards we go.. Our regos are all but closed for this year so our focus now turns to the competition and cold weather. Make sure you check the merchandise range for a nice warm Hoodie or a Beanie to keep the frost off the top.

Time to Nominate

Well, we’re at that time already.

Our Senior nominations are due this weekend and the numbers are a little shorter than desired. Regardless, we still believe we can put good quality teams on the park and give our opposition something to worry about.

Our plan to is regroup this year and aim for the higher grades in 2020. This depends on a couple of key factors.

If our nominations are successful we need to focus on some good results throughout the competitions. Building confidence is vital for our long term growth and sustainability.

And then player retention. We have to ensure our teams of tomorrow start today. Our young, fit and energetic players are breaking free from their Junior shackles and looking to take their places in our Senior sides. Transitioning these guys and girls safely is an important part in our player retention strategy.

We have a lot going on at the moment but just need to mention a few things here.

  • Thanks to everyone so far for your early registrations. Its been a little challenging to say the least, rolling out a new system and then having such a short window of time to complete the process.
  • We would like to shout out to all the U13 U14 girls. Our intent to field an all girls team in the U13 Boys competition has received some excellent support, but we need to do more, and find more girls to ensure we have a full and capable squad. For more information please contact Geoff on 0422492518.
  • Roy Tomas has taken up the all important role of coaching Co-Ordinator. This has been on the table for some time now and we are excited to see it finally come to life. Roy will be rolling out some information to the coaches and managers in the next few weeks, outlining the club objectives and the resources available. Coaching development is just as important to our club as player development, and the two go hand in hand. Under Roy’s guidance we hope to establish some good foundations in both.
  • We’d like to acknowledge and thank our hard working committee. Trevor Simm is busy organising our equipment in preparation for your season start. Tara Kelly is focused on the Junior teams, working to ensure our players are allocated appropriately and the coaches have all the information they need to begin the season. Mellissa Simmons is hard at work keeping the Facebook feed alive, providing the all important news you need to know about whats happening in your footy club, and Temeka Jones is keeping us all in line as our committee chairperson.

And lastly just a few dates to keep in mind.

April 7. Senior season Kick Off

April 27.  BDF / ODF Joint Competitions Kick Off. (Competitive Juniors U12- U16’s)

May 5th. BDF Mini Football Season start.

Play Safe,  Play Fair, Play by the Rules
