Registering is easier than you think. We'll walk you through it.

LET'S GO

All registration for Macquarie United goes through PlayFootball — Football Australia's online registration system. It's a bit clunky, we know. But we've broken it down step by step so you can get it done without throwing your phone across the room.

Before You Start

Before you jump into PlayFootball, get these things ready. It'll save you a lot of back-and-forth halfway through the process.

You'll need:

A device with internet access (phone, tablet, or computer — computer is easiest)

A passport-style photo of the player (head and shoulders, facing the camera, no hats or sunglasses — PNG or JPG, under 5MB). This is used for player ID.

An email address you have access to (you'll need to verify it)

A credit or debit card — fees are paid in full at the time of registration through PlayFootball. Unfortunately payment plans aren't available as this is managed by Football Australia, not the club.

Your Active Kids voucher code, if you're using one (grab this first — details below)

ID for new players (e.g., driver's licence, passport, or birth certificate)

Active Kids Voucher

If you've got a school-aged child (Kindy to Year 12), you may be eligible for an Active Kids voucher from the NSW Government. It's worth $50 and can be applied directly to your registration fees.

Get your voucher before you start registering. You'll need the voucher code during the payment step on PlayFootball, and you can't add it after the fact.

How to get your voucher:

Head to service.nsw.gov.au and search "Active Kids voucher"

Log in to your MyServiceNSW account (or create one)

Follow the prompts to apply for a voucher for your child

Save the voucher code — you'll enter it during payment on PlayFootball

Two $50 vouchers are issued per child per year (one at the start of Term 1, one at the start of Term 3). You can use either or both towards football registration.

How to Register — Step by Step

  • Head to playfootball.com.au. Click "Re-Registering to play this season?" on the homepage. This works for both new and returning players — don't let the wording confuse you.

  • Before you can do anything on PlayFootball, you need to be logged in.

If you've registered for football anywhere in Australia before, click "Sign In" and log in with the email address you used last time. You must use the same login method you originally signed up with — so if you created your account with your email and password, use that. If you used Facebook or Google login, use that.

If you're brand new to football, click "Don't have an account yet?" and create an account. You can sign up with your email address, Facebook, or Google. Important: if you're a parent registering a child, create the account in your name, not your child's. You'll be able to register your kids from your account.

You'll get a verification email with a code — check your inbox (and your junk folder if it doesn't show up). Enter the code when prompted and you're in.

  • Once you're logged in, click on the product drop down and choose organisation.

Type in Macquarie United go to the bottom of the page and click along the page numbers until you find us!

  • You'll see a list of registration options — these are organised by age group and team type (MiniRoos, Junior, Senior, etc.). Make sure you select the right one for the player you're registering.

Not sure which one to pick? Here's a quick guide:

MiniRoos — turning 5 to 11 in the calendar year

Junior Competition — turning 12 to 16 in the calendar year

    Senior Men's or Women's — 18 and over

Click "Details" to see what's included and the fee breakdown. Then click "Register."

  • Choose "Myself" if you're the one playing. If you're registering a child, select their name from your linked family members. If you haven't linked your child's profile yet, you'll be prompted to create or find their record — you'll need their full name and date of birth.

  • If you (or your child) have played football before, PlayFootball will try to match you to an existing record. If it finds one, click "Use Record" to claim it. This links your playing history so everything stays in one place.

  • You'll need to open each set of T&Cs (Football Australia, Football NSW, BDFA, and club level) and check the "I agree" box for each one. It's a few clicks, but it's required before you can move forward.

  • Work through the personal details form — name, address, date of birth, emergency contact, the usual. Fill everything in accurately and click "Next."

You'll also be asked to update or confirm contact details and click "Save Participant."

  • Upload a passport-style photo of the player. Head and shoulders, facing the camera, clear background. PNG or JPG, under 5MB. This is used for player ID.

  • Choose the appropriate form of ID and provide the required details. New players may need to have their ID verified by the club.

  • Last screen. Review all your details — name, age group, fees — and make sure everything looks right.

If you're using an Active Kids voucher, this is where you enter the voucher code. It'll reduce the total automatically.

Click "Confirm and Pay," then "Add Card," enter your card details, and hit "Submit and Pay."

    That's it. You're registered.

You'll get a confirmation email. The club will review and approve your registration, and we'll be in touch with team details, training info, and everything else you need before the season kicks off.

Other info

Registering More Than One Child?

You don't need to create a new account for each kid. Once you're logged into your Football Account, you can register additional family members from the same login. Just go back to the start of the process, choose Macquarie United again, and select the next child from your linked family members.

If you haven't linked your children yet, PlayFootball will walk you through adding them to your account.

Returning Players

If you played with Macquarie United last season, the process is the same — you still register through PlayFootball each year. When you log in, your existing record should come up automatically. Make sure you claim it rather than creating a new one, so your history carries across.

If you've been away from football for a while, don't worry — PlayFootball keeps records. As long as you log in with the same email you used originally, it should find your old profile.

Transferring From Another Club?

If you or your child played at another club and want to move to Macquarie United, you can register with us through PlayFootball and the system will process a transfer. If you were registered with a club outside Australia, you may need an International Transfer Certificate — this applies to players aged 10+. Get in touch with us and we'll help you through it.
