Who we are
Macquarie United Football Club (MUFC) is a volunteer-run grassroots football club based at Proctor Park, Bathurst NSW 2795. We compete in the Bathurst District Football Association and have been part of the Bathurst community since 1984.
When we say "we", "us", or "our" in this policy, we mean Macquarie United Football Club and the volunteers who run it.
What this policy covers
This policy explains what personal information we collect through our website (macquarieunited.com.au), how we use it, how we store it, and your rights in relation to it. We take your privacy seriously and we handle your information with care.
What information we collect
We may collect the following personal information through our website:
When you fill in a contact, volunteer, coaching, or sponsorship enquiry form: your name, email address, phone number, and the content of your message.
When you submit a women's football expression of interest: your name, email address, phone number, age, and playing experience.
When you purchase merchandise through our online shop: your name, email address, phone number, delivery address, and payment information. Payment is processed securely through Squarespace Commerce and its payment provider (Stripe or Square). We do not store your credit card details on our website.
When you subscribe to email updates: your name and email address.
Automatically when you visit our website: Squarespace collects standard analytics data including your IP address, browser type, device type, pages visited, and time spent on the site. This data is anonymised and used to understand how people use our website. We may also use Google Analytics for this purpose.
What we don't collect through this website
Player registration is handled through PlayFootball (playfootball.com.au), which is managed by Football Australia. Any personal information you provide during the registration process — including player details, medical information, and payment — is collected and managed by Football Australia under their own privacy policy. We encourage you to read their privacy policy at playfootball.com.au.
How we use your information
We use the information we collect to:
Respond to your enquiries and messages
Process and fulfil merchandise orders
Send you club updates and communications (only if you've opted in)
Manage volunteer, coaching, and sponsorship enquiries
Understand how our website is used so we can improve it
We will never sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third party. Full stop.
Who we share your information with
We only share your personal information with third parties where it's necessary to provide our services:
Squarespace — our website and online shop platform. Their privacy policy can be found at squarespace.com/privacy.
Stripe or Square — payment processing for merchandise orders. Your payment information is handled directly by these providers and is not stored on our website.
Google Analytics — anonymised website usage data. Google's privacy policy can be found at policies.google.com/privacy.
Email provider — if we send club updates via an email platform (e.g., Mailchimp), your name and email address will be stored with that provider. You can unsubscribe from these communications at any time.
We do not share your information with anyone else unless required by law.
How we store and protect your information
Your information is stored securely through the platforms we use (Squarespace, Stripe/Square, Google Analytics, email provider). We don't store personal information on local computers or in unsecured locations.
We take reasonable steps to protect your information from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access. However, no data transmission over the internet is guaranteed to be 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee the security of information you transmit to us online.
Children's information
We're a football club that caters for children from the age of five. We take the privacy of minors seriously. Personal information for junior players is collected through PlayFootball (managed by Football Australia), not through our website. Any information collected through our website forms (e.g., a parent making a contact enquiry on behalf of their child) is handled with the same care and protection as all other personal information.
We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children through our website without parental involvement.
